Shark Point Phuket

Located just 5 minutes from Anemone Reef and the King Cruiser, Shark Point Phuket is another top class dive site in Thailand. If you choose a day trip to Shark Point Phuket, the trip will usually include two other dives. The King Cruiser will be one and either Koh Doc Mai or Anemone Reef will be the other one. It lays approximately half way between Phuket and the island of Koh Phi Phi. A series of pinnacles rise up from the bottom, with the main one breaking the surface to make the site easy to find. There are a further three pinnacles to be found heading south from the main pinnacle.

Shark Point Phuket was so named, because of the native population of Leopard Sharks that used to be commonly found here. Sadly these days, sightings are more infrequent, but still regular. Although the currents can be fierce here, it's suitable for all levels of scuba diver as the site provides enough sheltered areas to hide, and enjoy a relaxing dive. The deepest you'll find here will be about 25 metres, but the best of the site is above 19 metres. Safety stops can be carried out close to the main pinnacle, where the rocks are covered with anemones and corals. Expect to find some nudis and morays around here.

The corals are fantastic here and are a mixture of both hard and soft corals. Huge Gorgonian Fans sprout from bommies and sometimes shelter hard to find Seahorses, or Ghost Pipefish. When the visibility is crystal, it's simply outstanding. Sometimes it's possible to see to the third southern pinnacle. Treats to be found here include, Leopard Sharks, Ribbon Eels, Turtles, Morays, Frogfish, Lionfish, Octopus, Great Barracuda, and so much more. Sometimes Eagle Rays are regularly sighted here.  In the last couple of years, Shark Point Phuket has also been getting an increasing number of visits from Whalesharks.
