PADI Advanced Open Water Course Phuket

PADI Advanced Open Water Course Phuket - If you want to learn to dive in Phuket, or you're already a certified diver and are thinking about scuba diving in Phuket, you might like to consider taking the PADI Advanced Open Water Course, which follows on from the PADI Open Water Diver Course. Scuba diving around Phuket offers some of the best scuba diving in the world. Go to Koh Tao if you want super cheap dive courses, large groups, limited dive times, lots of divers and not a lot in the way of marine life. Come to Phuket if you want good visibility, small groups and a diversity of marine life that eclipses what can be found in the Gulf of Thailand. We know this to be true, as the management of this dive centre and website has worked in the scuba diving industry in both locations.

  • "The PADI Adventures in Diving program provides scuba divers with a structured means to explore special diving interests and gain dive experience. Participating in the advanced open water course is often the first step novice divers take after their initial certification. However, all divers benefit from the program's flexibility and the opportunity it provides for discovery and exploration. The program allows student divers to customize their training path and learn various underwater tasks that broaden their awareness of the environment and their capabilities as divers".  There are many beautiful dive sites all over the world, which require training and experience beyond the initial PADI Open Water Diver level. The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course, also known as the PADI Adventures in Diving Program, will take you to the next level. It's the next step on the scuba diving education ladder and allows you to dive anywhere in the world to a depth of 30 metres, thus opening many doors which were previously closed to you as an open water diver!

PADI Advanced Open Water Course - What's Involved?

The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course is structured into two key areas:

  • Knowledge Development
  • Five Open Water Dives

Knowledge Development
The good news is that there are no videos to watch, no quizzes and no exams. In fact you don't even have to set foot in a classroom to take the PADI Advanced Course. The course is comprised of five open water dives and the emphasis is on having fun. At the beginning of your advanced course, you'll discuss with your instructor which five dives you'd like to undertake, out of the many options available.

You must include the deep dive, as well as the navigation dive, in your choice of five dives. This is a PADI requirement. For each of the five dives you do you'll be required to complete a short knowledge review answer sheet relating to each dive. They don't take long to complete and all the information and answers to the questions are in the PADI adventures in diving manual.

Five Open Water Dives
As we've already mentioned, there are two compulsory dives that must be taken as part of the PADI Advanced Course, the deep dive and the navigation dive. You will need to choose three more adventure dives, depending upon what interests you and what are available at the dive sites in Thailand. For obvious reasons, we cannot offer an ice dive, dry suit dive, or an altitude dive, as part of the PADI Advanced Course in Thailand.

The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course / Adventures in Diving Program, has something for everyone and aims to broaden your awareness of the environment as well as your capabilities as a diver.

The adventure dives that you can choose from to complete your PADI Advanced Open Water Course include:

Then for each of the five dives that you make your PADI Instructor will give you a comprehensive pre-dive briefing and orientation before the dive. The briefing will cover the performance requirements of the dive and what you need to do in order to meet the objectives of the dive. It will also elaborate on any key areas, such as things to consider, potential problems, points of interest and any unique dive skills or procedures that you may need to know, or follow on the dive. Essentially, this is an extension of the knowledge development and is to ensure that you understand the information necessary to safely complete the dive.

The Advanced Open Water Course is all about relaxing and having fun and enjoying five superb fun dives while increasing your knowledge and skills to a higher level. This will give you the coveted certification of PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and will open up a wealth of more challenging dive sites to you! You will now be certified to dive anywhere in the world to a depth of 30 metres, providing you take another qualified buddy with you on your underwater adventures!
