Marla's Mystery was sunk in 2004 by Scubacat dive centre in Phuket. The owner found a rusting cargo ship beached in Phuket, that had already been stripped for scrap, and didn't need much additional cleaning to become eco friendly for sinking. After welding some panels back onto the ship to make her float, she was towed out to Racha Yai and sunk in 32 metres of water, about 200 metres east from Bay Number Two. She was named after the owners daughter, Marla. Maybe in hindsight she was scuttled in water slightly too deep, as the top barely reaches 22 metres, which makes no decompression times here all too short and air consumption too quick.

Marla's Mystery is about 30 metres from bow to stern and 7 metres abeam. Marine life to be found here includes some extra large Lionfish, Barracuda, Potato Groupers, Scorpionfish and a whole range of Nudibranchs. In terms of marine life compared to the King Cruiser Wreck, Marla's Mystery is pretty barren. Finding Marla's can be a bit hit and miss as there is seldom a mooring line attached. Use a depth finder or GPS to be sure of descending right onto the wreck and descend quickly or currents can knock you off course.

There is no reef close to Marla's, so if you miss it, there's not a lot to see apart from a sandy bottom with a few Starfish! Make sure you use a surface marker buoy on all the dive sites around Racha Yai, as there's a lot of boat traffic passing by in all directions.
