On the southern most tip of Koh Similan (Island number eight) is Beacon Point. The sandy bottom is littered with huge displaced granite boulders. Massive cathedral arches and swim-throughs make this site both beautiful and enthralling. Currents can sometimes be strong here and it is common to see sharks hugging the sandy bottom, as well as larger visitors passing silently above - feeding in the plankton infested current. In the shallow areas, there are some spectacular corals and an abundance of colourful reef inhabitants, to keep divers talking about the dive well into the evening. It's fairly common to see a Leopard Shark or two resting in sandy areas. |
