The Somboon III Similans Islands Liveaboard is permanently based in the Similan Islands during the Similans scuba diving season in Thailand. She dives at dive sites at Koh Bon & Koh Tachai on Wednesdays & Saturdays, and Richelieu Rock on Mondays & Thursdays. Koh Bon & Koh Tachai are very good dive sites in Thailand to find gigantic Manta Rays, and it's also possible to encounter Whalesharks if conditions are right. Richelieu Rock is possibly one of the best dive sites in Thailand, and is the highlight of any Similans liveaboard trip. Accommodation is in twin or double bed cabins, and all cabins use shared bathrooms. This Similans liveaboard suits divers who have a tight schedule and need a shorter Similans trip than four nights.
Somboon IV, along with her the sister Similans liveaboard Somboon III, offers scuba divers in the Similan Islands flexibility, and between the two boats, guests can join one or the other one every day of the week and stay from one night upwards. On Tuesdays & Saturdays Somboon IV offers scuba diving at Koh Bon & Koh Tachai, and on Wednesdays and Sundays the boat will be scuba diving at Richelieu Rock. Guests accommodation on the boat is the same as Somboon III, in twin bed or double bed cabins. The schedules of both Somboon III & Somboon IV can be confusing at times, so if you have some dates in mind, contact us, and we'll provide you with detailed information of which boat you can join. Again, Somboon III & Somboon IV offer scuba divers flexibility with their schedules and guests can join either boat for one 1 night upwards.
Please note: We act as an agent for Somboon III and Somboon IV, and as such cannot be held responsible in the unlikely event you have complaint regarding the transfers or the trip itself. The Somboon III trip can be busy, especially for the two lunchtime dives, as the boat also takes day-trippers. Somboon IV will also take day trippers when Somboon III is diving at Richelieu Rock, or full. You will be guided by professional dive guides employed by the boat owner, and not our staff. If you would like our staff to accompany you as a private guide, we can arrange this for an additional B2,500 per day. If you are taking a PADI course with us on the boat, one of our instructors will accompany you to teach your course, with no additional charge.
Schedules, Prices, & Itinerary You can start one of the Somboon III or Somboon IV trips every day of the week. The boat are ideal for trips of one, two, or three nights, anything more than that, and we'd suggest a four night liveaboard to get real value for money.
Transfers start at 6:30am from Patong Hotels, and guests return to Phuket late afternoon the day they finish their trip. Transfers take around two hours by road and a further 60 to 90 minutes by speedboat each way from Phuket. Please be aware that the transfer each way is over four hours. We would require a 30% deposit plus equipment charges to hold the booking for you. The balance is payable on departure before you board the boat.
