The MV Somboon IV is a flexible Similans Liveaboard that offers divers a great choice of how long they want to stay on the liveaboard. The Somboon IV is based in the Similans, but on Wednesdays and Sundays she'll cruise up to the great dive sites of Richelieu Rock, Koh Tachai and Koh Bon. See our dive sites section for more info on these dive sites. Somboon IV is different to the Somboon III because she visits Richelieu Rock and Koh Tachai. The Somboon III only visits sites in the Similans and Koh Bon. To visit Richelieu Rock, guests need to do three or more days on Somboon IV, spanning a Wednesday or Sunday. For example, join the boat on Monday or Tuesday and get off on Thursday, Friday or Saturday or get off the following Monday or Tuesday to visit Richelieu Rock and Koh Tachai twice. Just contact us if you're confused!
Both the Somboon IV and Somboon III are purpose built liveaboard dive boats equipped with state of the art navigation, communication and safety aids. A maximum of 28 guests can sleep on the boat in four double bed cabins and ten twin bed cabins. There are six bathrooms to cater to the guests onboard. There is an indoor saloon and also a large sundeck where guests can find some quiet time and relax. The dive staff on both the Somboon boats are experienced guides in the Similans and can usually find some special underwater treats to show their guests.
Top Deck & Dining Area
The Somboon IV, like the Somboon III, offers a great flexible schedule that should suit most divers. The boats are large and sleep up to twenty-eight guests, so don't be expecting peace and solitude on these boats. It's a fun atmosphere and very reasonable prices. Guest reports are constantly good for both the Somboon boats.
Schedules, Prices & Itinerary
The Somboon IV is permanently based in the Similan Islands, apart from on Wednesdays and Sundays when she makes the short trip north to Richelieu Rock, Koh Tachai and Koh Bon. Although quite close to the Similans, Richelieu Rock, Koh Tachai and Koh Bon offer a vastly different marine environment. Whalesharks are often sighted at Richelieu Rock and Manta Rays are normally encountered at Koh Bon.
While the Somboon IV is in the Similans, she will move around the islands daily ensuring a large selection of different dive sites to keep guests happy. The Similans has dozens of great dive sites to choose from!
