Scuba Explorer Similan Islands
The MV Scuba Explorer is a spectacular Similans Liveaboard. She's large and stable and the quality of service is very high. She used to cater primarily to the Japanese scuba diving market, but these days the boat is filled with a mixture of various nationalities. She is a whopping 37 metres long, almost 8 metres abeam, and more than comfortably accommodates up to 24 guests in twelve cabins. The entire ship is air-conditioned throughout, the cabins are larger than you would expect to find on a scuba diving liveaboard and the sun and dive decks are enormous. The music system is piped throughout the vessel, but there are separate volume controls in all areas. She cruises at an impressive 12 knots and has a maximum speed of 16 knots.
 

 
 

Departures are from Phuket, which cuts out any tiresome minibus rides to Tap Lamu. Due to her size she is remarkably stable, something that would be appreciated by anyone who suffers from seasickness. There are three standards of cabin to choose from to fit a range of budgets, from basic standard cabins through to suite cabins, which are comfortable, roomy, ensuite and offer great views. All in all this is a very attractive Similans Liveaboard.

There are three main different types of cruise to choose from. There is the standard four-night Similan and Surin Islands cruise, the extended Similan and Surin Islands cruise, and the Hin Daeng and Hin Muang cruise. There are also a couple of Phi Phi Island trips scheduled throughout the season, and a one-off Richelieu Rock trip that departs on the 4th December. A 10% discount is available to anyone who books two trips back to back. Many guests book a Similans trip together with a Hin Daeng trip and stay on the boat for seven nights, to experience all of the very best the Andaman Sea has to offer.
