MV Dolphin Queen Similan Islands
The MV Dolphin Queen 1 is one of the cheapest Similan Liveaboards operating in the Andaman Sea. She is a budget Similans Thailand operator that offers excellent value for money. Although an economy boat, MV Dolphin Queen is surprisingly large and spacious. There are ten cabins all of which are air-conditioned. All cabins also have 220v electrical sockets so charging iPods and cameras is easy. There are four quadruple bund bed cabins and a further four double bed cabins to choose from. There are three bathrooms to service all the cabins. The covered outside dining area is large enough to accommodate all guests even when the boat is full and there is also a sun deck where guests can relax in between dives.

The onboard catering is a mixture of Western and Thai food and special diets can be catered for with advanced warning. There is a TV and DVD player, as well as a sound system, where guests can watch a movie or two, or listen to some music. There is also a library of marine books to help divers identify critters from their dives. The schedule for MV Dolphin Queen is the standard four-day / four-night trip which covers the Similan Islands, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai, as well as the famous Richelieu Rock where Whalesharks can sometimes be spotted cruising up and down the reef.

Equipment is included in the price! If you have your own scuba diving equipment you will receive a B1000 discount. This boat departs and returns from Khao Lak just north on Phuket. Transfers are NOT included so guests will need to make their own arrangements to get there if they are staying in a Phuket hotel. A taxi from Phuket will cost around B2,500, or there are several buses from about B100. It should also be mentioned that groups are kept small with a maximum of four guests for every experienced dive guide.
