| On the south east side of Racha Noi, is East Coast Bay. A nice relaxing, shallow dive in usually very clear water. Swim from small bommie to bommie, and enjoy all the critters that make them their homes. Giant Morays and Lionfish are plentiful here, as are many other colourful fish like Trigger Fish, Butterfly Fish, Angel Fish and Powder Blue Surgeon Fish. Although a shallow dive, don't be surprised to see the odd Manta Ray passing by out in the blue. At some points between November to February, due to the easterly winds, the east coast of Racha Noi may be too choppy and rough to dive. This is for safety reasons, as well as for passengers comfort. Racha Noi usually enjoys the best visibility around Phuket and its surrounding dive sites. This is mainly due to the deeper waters that surround this uninhabited island and fewer fishing trawlers dragging their nets on the bottom, something that can sometimes be a problem elsewhere. |
